Coming along...

Due to the break from both school and work, Jeff and I have had a lot of time on our hands, so we have started a lot of projects and have completed most of them, are still working on a few, and will start working on more once we decide on fabric.

Crochet has been something that I learned just a month before Christmas, and I love it! Mostly I have made binnies and scarves, but now I'm working on making baby booties and baby binnies. Also, I am teaching Jeff how to crochet. 

Sewing, I just recently brought up from Nevada my Great Grandma's sewing machine, a 1970 Singer Zig Zag Deluxe, and table. Unfortunately when you push on the pedal the needle goes up and down once or twice real slow before stopping. It makes an RRRRRRRAAAAA sound with the pedal afterwards. At least the table works. The good thing is that Jeff's sister is really talented when it comes to sewing so she said she'd take a look at it to see if maybe she can figure out what might be wrong with it, to decide if it would be worth it ($$ wise) to purchase new parts or to just get a new one. 

In the meantime, Ashley, Jeff's younger sister has a sewing machine, she's had it for 4yrs and has never used it, so she is letting us borrow it.  And it is Great! the best part about it is that Jeff is more into sewing than I am, once we brought it home he couldn't wait to learn how to use it get started.  He wound the bobbin and threaded the needle, our first project we made a tiny pillow.

 Some other sewing projects will consist of: making curtains for the living room, (as you can see in the above picture the ones that came with the apt are just wretched), the kitchen, and both the bedrooms. First we need to measure and then we need to decide on fabric... and I am just lovin' the fact that Jeff wants to participate-if not do it all!  Also, we will be re-upholstering our kitchen chairs and making cushions for our kitchen stools and rocking chair for the nursery.

Other projects that we've been doing but can't finish until Jeff can find a warm place to stain the furniture that we have taken apart and sanded down: Kitchen chairs and stools, and will be sanding down the coffee table we recently bought, and possibly the rocking chair.  I won't be participating in the staining because that could induce labor! no bueno.

Today we went to D.I. with the intent of looking at fabric (it could possibly be cheaper there than at a fabric store or walmart), but unfortunately they didn't have much of a selection, unless we wanted to go for Deer Hunting Orange or Pineapple Yellow there was plenty of fabric! yuck! We got side-tracked and wound up in the men's clothing isle.  Jeff is in need of shirts and church pants, it seems that all his shirts either have a stain on them or they are too short in the torso and his pants are just too tight or too short.  Today was a good day, we found him a shirt (a cool old baseball style t-shirt) and two pairs of slacks. One of the slacks looks like the kind my dad wears, gray and faded red and yellow pinstripe (the pinstripes are very subtle so the red and yellow don't stick out like you'd think, you'd have to get really close in order to tell the color on them).

Also, we started the day by going to the DR for my regular checkup. I am at 37 weeks, and according to Dr. Olsen, Saturday I could go into Labor, meaning if my body wanted to it could, not saying that I will. By next Thursday, which is my next appointment, we're hoping that I will have dilated 1cm.  I have had contractions, but they aren't consistent or painful (yet).  It is still amazingly odd to me that I am carrying a child in my belly and that he has grown from the size of a seed or smaller to, what will be most likely, a 7lb baby! CRAZY!

I went to go visit my friend Sarah, who just a month ago had a baby boy, and it was good that I went to see her, the visit kind of relieved some anxiety I was having about becoming a parent... her little guy is just so adorable, I got to hold him and he was smiling and giggling up at me, it was precious. After asking her all my questions about delivery, nursing, parenting, time and money, she was very helpful and I feel much better about everything. I'm still a bit nervous about the actual "water breaking", contractions, and delivery.... and then the thought of taking this child home with us and starting our new lives together... will I actually be a good parent? I can see myself with a baby, but a 2yr old or an 8yr old, and more kids after this one? wow it just blows me away! I'm glad I'm not doing this alone! (both my wonderful husband and Heavenly Father are with me).
